A Bit of Background
Daniel began playing the piano at the age of 9 and also took up clarinet and saxophone at the age of 13. Deciding later to make music his career, Daniel studied music at the University of Huddersfield graduating in 2014 before completing his PGCE in primary education in 2015. Since 2016, Daniel has worked in primary and music education simultaneously as well as regularly performing.
Teaching
Daniel began his teaching career at the age of 15 delivering a music theory course at his school. He then continued to tutor alongside his A-Level studies and whilst studying at the University of Huddersfield. Instrumentally, Daniel teaches in individual, small group and whole class settings to a range of pupils of all ages - his 80 year old piano pupil is still going strong!
In addition, Daniel is a qualified primary school teacher and holds the National Award for SEN Co-ordination allowing him to support those with additional needs on their musical journey. |
Performing
As well as teaching Daniel performs regularly in both amateur and professional capacities in a range of musical styles and genres. In the past Daniel has performed in a range of ensembles including symphony orchestras, pit orchestras, big bands and brass bands. More recently, Daniel has focused on more smaller ensembles and performs regularly in a Jazz Quartet and a classic Rock Band.

Behind the Scenes!
Equally comfortable off stage, Daniel has experience of the more organisational aspects of music in both education and community contexts. Daniel has worked as a musical director of a Brass Band as well as a Music Leader in schools allowing him to manage concerts, events, player recruitment and overall music provision.
Daniel also proudly supports Young Enterprise in the City of Hull sitting on various panels which support small business start-ups and enterprise education.
